Instagram has become vast growing in popularity over the last decade, where the user create interesting looking photographs using nothing else but their phone camera then collaborate and share them with others.
“Instagram has given a lot of people a good excuse to take a look at and appreciate the world around them”
Not only is it recognised abroad, but taking over in South Africa aswel, which lead to an incentive where a community of instagramers are in the process of raising awareness.

The basic outline of the strategy of the launch involves the following:Just this weekend I launched the official Instagramers South Africa @igersSouthAfrica account on Instagram. The main focus of the strategy is to create awareness around a combined regional walk that will be happening in cities all over South Africa (I have attached all the “infograms” that contain details about the walks). This combined walk takes place over the weekend of the 25-27th of January in which each city ManIger chooses a time and place for Instagramers to meet and walk through their city so they can Instagram to their hearts’ content! This will mark the official launch of our local community and a bonus is that we have two prizes to give away to the “Best Instagramer of the @igersSouthAfrica Launch” The first prize is an Olloclip or an iPhone 5 lens sponsored by instageeks (Depending on what device you own), the second prize is a Large Framed Print of the winners choice, which is sponsored by Snapgram. These prizes can be won by simply hashtagging #igers[localcity] and #igersSouthAfrica. Each city ManIger during the course of the following weekdays will feature 1 instagramer a day, which will result in 5 “featured” instagramers from each city. @igersSouthAfrica will then feature the top Instagramers from each city and then the top two winners will win the prizes :)

“It’s pretty simple and a nice incentive to build up our local community! I think we could easily become one of the biggest and greatest Instagram Communities in the world if we do this right :) Since I’ve gotten more and more involved with the community I’ve seen a lot friends being made, people falling in love with cities and the everyday person discovering their creative edge, which I love.”

Lets stay healthy and take some photographs as we go along!
Hope to see you at the Walk!
